To use Cajun's words: "This is an auction, not a videogame". In an AUCTION, the value of an item is set by the price the buyers are willing to pay. When nobody wants to buy the item or pay the price the seller is asking, it should be removed from the auction or offered at reduced price.

I have items in my whatching list that are over 2 years old. I am interested but not willing to pay the price the seller is asking. I have tried to negotiate with him, but rather than lowering the price he prefers to keep the item himself but leaves the auction up "just in case".... This type of behaviour has no resemblance with an auction.

I think the anawer here would be for Delcampe to introduce a new search categorie....something like "New items, not been relisted".....That would keep everyone happy....newbie buyers who can still search through all the old listings and moaning old devils like me who are fed up of seeing the same auctuions

There is another postcard site I use (not THAT other one we all use) who have the same problem with these free re-lists and I have seen sellers ....good sellers leave or let their auctions run out because they fell into this false sense of security with these free relists and they just relisted it over and over again....their NEW stuff wasn't found because it was swamped down with the old stuff no one wanted.....sales dropped so they stopped using it

I really like Delcampe....it's a more friendly place than that other site....but things really do need to change otherwise I can see no future

There could be a solution if all the new auction are placed in online auction section and all relisted many times in a shop section automatically with fixed price and accepting offers. All the buyers will get only fresh material if they are using the search engine. Anything else will appear only at shop section.

There could be a solution if all the new auction are placed in online auction section and all relisted many times in a shop section automatically with fixed price and accepting offers.
All the buyers will get only fresh material if they are using the search engine.
Anything else will appear only at shop section.

I do just that Run a auction a few time then send it to fixed price its not well known yet but we think google will index the listing if its fixed price but not an auction its in a seller's best intrest to do this if thats the case. I sell and buy here and have not yet been stiffed either way with almost 5000 listings and a few hundred sale I am pleased in the most part and hope too see the site grow even bigger. Hi Randy, You are right. Fixed price items do go directly into Googlebase. That alone will get you many more bids and people who are new to Delcampe. I like Delcampe better than Ebay at the moment. We have been on Delcampe almost two years now. At the point we started we were the largest volume and $$ seller of postcards on Ebay for 5 straight years. At this point (Today) our Delcampe monthly sales are four times that of our Ebay sales and our monthly fees for delcampe are 1/8th that of Ebay. The non paying Bidder ratio of Non bidders to buyers has been 1/2 that of Ebay's ratio over the past year for us as well. But we sell almost exclusively by the fixed price method. We only do auctions from time to time. We still sell stuff that we listed during the first three months here EVERY month. That has surprised me to be honest. But I believe that it is due to our items being in Googlebase and drawing new customers into our listings. 17% of our sales are of the lower bid offer type. So try fixed price sales

Hi Bjorn,

There is a possibility on Delcampe to send an offer for that items what you have on whatching list.
That is similar like at the flea market.
Many cultures many bargain styles...you just remember how different is in Germany or in Egypt to buy someting.
Many Italians or Romanians sent me lower prices as their offer, for them that is a normal bargain and there were sometimes 10-15% differents from the starting price, sometimes they offered a half price.

Try to send to sellers your offer and you will be very suprised that there will be a lot of sellers accepting your offer...that means you can buy that items for the price what is worth for you.
