MOURNING COVER: Mourning Cover from Newport Pagnell to Leicester, 19 October 1853. Great Britain (England). Mourning (no contents) Cover from Newport Pagnell to Leicester, 19 October 1853, bearing a Red-Brown imperf., tied by an unidentifiable mark. B/S with a 75% visible Newport Pagnell broken double arc in yellow, a 95% visible Ravenstone undated broken double arc in green and a blurred 100% visible Market Harborough double arc in bright green dated 19 October 1853. Condition: Breaking the seal has resulted in an approx irregular 3mm x 1.2cm max piece missing from lip at point of seal. However, when closed the black printed emblem on the lip tip becomes complete. There is a small approx 1.5 x 1.7 ink-stained piece of paper attached to a bottom corner of the back face, and a 6mm wide faint-in-places grubby panel running along the bottom edge of same and 2 small clusters of faint ink or grubby smears, otherwise; this is a Very Good++ cover with an exceptionally fine front and without any other readily noticeable faults.
