The annual issuing of the Europe stamp is intended to remind the public that productive strides towards Europe´sintegration are being made in the fields of post and telecommunications, among other areas. The EuropeanConference on Post and Telecommunications (CEPT) has existed for 14 years and survived it´s experimental phase inevery respect. Collaboration among regional European organizations whose common goal is a united Europe cannotbe imagined without it. Solutions reached by the CEPT involving international questions or rules within the realm ofpost and telecommunications chiefly serve as a model for international proceedings within the Universal Postal Unionand International Telecommunications Union. Today the CEPT is comprised of all 26 European nations includingYugoslavia. Planning with the future in mind and close cooperation among the various organizational and technicalechelons of post and telecommunications aim to achieve the most standardized regulations throughout the memberstates. Among other things, the CEPT will formulate collaboration guidelines outlining the different computersystems employed by the different postal and telecommunications administrations.
