1.Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage: Liu Bei is courteous to the wise and condescending to those in possession of just book learning. Liu visits Chu-Ko Liang three times to ask for his assistance. Moved by Liu’s sincerity, Chu-Ko Liang agrees to leave the mountain to assist Liu, a task to which he devotes himself until death.
2.To the Rescue of His Master´s Family: Chao Yun, also named Chao Tzu-lung, was a handsome man and skillful fighter. When Tsao Tsao defeated Liu Bei in Tangyang, Chao was ordered to protect Liu´s family. Though he was wounded, he thought only of protecting the Lius and ultimately rescued Liu´s wives Lady Kan and Lady Mi and their son A Tou.
3.Deterring the Enemy in Changban: After rescuing the little lord and catching up with Chang Fei, Chao was too spent to continue fighting. Chang Fei—beard bristling, eyes bulging, and hand grasping his serpent spear—stood on the bridge and scared off the enemy with a thunderous roar. "Thunderous was his roar, and in terror Tsao´s million troops fled." This is another saga from the Three Kingdoms.
5.Filling Boats with Bundles of Straw to Acquire Arrows: Chu-Ko Liang and Chou Yu engage in a battle of wits. Chu-Ko Liang fills boats with bundles of straw to acquire arrows from the enemy, demonstrating intelligence and courage.
